The Library of Alexandria.
46 minute documentary

The Library of Alexandria was the crown jewel of the greatest power on eartch. Its name would forever be linked to Alexander The Great, Cleopatra, Julius Caesar and Mark Anthony. Yet to this day, no-one knows where it stood, what it looked like, for how long it existed or why it vanished. this DVd explores these issues.
Built by Prolemy the First nearly 300 years before Christ, the Alexandria Library would house the largest collection of books ever assembled in the Ancient World. For the very first time in history scholars from not one, but every field of study and every corner of the known world would be invited to one place for no other reason than to pursue pure knowledge.

But was the library burned by Caesar's armies, was it sacked by the followers od Islam or was it destroyed by Christians in an attempt to end the pagan beliefs of the Egyptians and Greeks? Its story remains without a doubt one of the greatest mysteries of all time.
