KING RAMSES II: The glorious reign of Egypt's Greatest Pharoah
46 minute documentary

Ramses II was perhaps the greatest pharaoh to rule ancient Egypt. His reign lasted 67 years, one of the longest in Egyptian history. As king he possessed endless energy and determination to ensure his name would stand immortal. His legacy has lasted for over 3,000 years.

As a young boy, Ramses was groomed as king being instructed in reading, writing, religion and the necessary military skills needed for becoming Pharaoh. When his father died in 1290 B.C. his first order of business was to prove his supreme power through the monumental temples he was to create. His temple at Abu Simbel is the largest rock structure ever built and instilled both awe and fear on his subjects and enemies.

Five years into his reign, Ramses began his military campaign by conquering powerful Hitites at the Battle of Kadesh. It was one of his most celebrated victories. As Pharoah, Ramses fathered over 90 children and had numerous wives. However, his true love was for Nefertari and her beauty was legendary.

Despite his glorious reign, Ramses died a crippled old man undoubtedly in pain. His death marked the end of a golden era, the likes of which would never be seen again.
