TOMBS OF THE GODS - THE PYRAMIDS OF GIZA
The most striking monuments of all time. From the Pre-dynastic days when dead bodies were buried away from fertile ground for practical reasons, to the greatest of the Giza pyramids, this is the story of the Tombs

In order to complete the final transformation and ensure immortality, the ancients hoped to preserve the physical body through the artificial process of mummification and the spiritual aspects through prayers and offerings. For the Pharaohs, the pyramid was the porthole to the other side.

The evolution began in 2600 B.C. when a creative designer named Imhotep used his artistic genius to create the first Egyptian pyramid - the Step Pyramid at Saqqara. It would set a new standard in tomb design that would result in one of the seven wonders of the world. For 4.000 years, the Pyramids of Giza have withstood the sands of time.
How the Egyptians quarried, cut and transported all the granite to the Giza Plateau remains a mystery, but they are stunning reminders of a long lost world where fear and hope inspired man to create on a grand scale.
