There are many theories as to the origins of this magnificent monument. However, the truth remains hidden behind the stony stare of the desert's most impressive lion. Like the pyramids it protects, The Great Sphinx is massive. Its body measures 240 feet and its head is 66 feet high. A mysterious mixture of man and beast, this strange sculpture crouches in front of the pyramid complex of Giza, quietly keeping the secret of its true significance.

By 2150 B.C. the grand era of pyramid construction was over. Tombs were plundered and The Sphinx endured over a 1,000 years of the desert's boiling embrace. It would be the reign of Tuthmosis that would see The Sphinx restored to its former glory. Many old structures were given new life and The Sphinx was re-discovered.
Since then, rulers and kingdoms have come and gone, but the desert lion has never ceased to watch over Egypt's rising sun and is yet another example of the ancient's incredible ability to create.
